Terms and conditions

These terms apply when you ask Silver Lining Roofing, a trading name of Cardus Construction Ltd (registered in England and Wales no. 15220953; registered office: 11 Brindley Place, Brunswick Square, Birmingham B1 2LP) ("we", "us") to inspect your roof or carry out work. Your written quote will refer to them.

1. Online prices

Prices on our website are estimates based on what you tell us. They are not an offer. The price you agree to is the one in your written quote after we've inspected the roof.

2. Your written quote

Your quote sets out the work, the materials, the price including VAT, the expected start date and the guarantee. It is valid for 30 days. The contract starts when you accept it in writing (including by email or WhatsApp).

3. Your right to cancel

If you accept our quote at your home or online, you can cancel within 14 days of accepting it, for any reason, by telling us in writing. If you ask us to start work within those 14 days and then cancel, you pay a fair amount for the work already done. Once the work is finished, the right to cancel ends.

4. Payment

[Set out your payment terms: for example, no deposit on repairs; on larger jobs a deposit of up to 25% for materials and the balance on completion. Say how customers can pay.]

5. Extra work

If we find something that couldn't be seen at the inspection, such as rotten timbers, we'll show you and agree a price before doing any extra work.

6. Weather and dates

Start dates depend on the weather and on the work before yours. We'll keep you updated and won't strip a roof we can't make watertight the same day.

7. Access, scaffolding and neighbours

You agree to give us access to the roof and, where needed, to the loft. Where scaffolding needs a pavement licence we arrange it. Where work affects a shared wall or chimney, the Party Wall Act may apply, and we'll explain what's needed.

8. Waste

We remove and lawfully dispose of the waste from our work. Asbestos is removed only by suitably qualified specialists.

9. Guarantees

Our guarantee covers our workmanship and the materials we supply, for the period in your quote: 10 years on new roofs. For other work, the period is the one stated in your quote. It doesn't cover damage from storms beyond normal weather, accidents, or work by others. [Add details of any insurance-backed guarantee you offer.] This doesn't affect your legal rights.

10. Complaints

If you're unhappy, tell us and we'll put it right where we can. [Add how to complain and any trade association or dispute scheme you belong to.]

11. The law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
