Roof repairs and leaks
Most leaks come down to a few things: slipped tiles, cracked ridge mortar, tired lead flashing or a blocked valley. We find the cause and fix it properly.
Repairs we do
Slipped or broken tiles
The most common cause of a sudden leak. Usually fixed from a roof ladder, with no scaffold.
Ridge tiles
Old mortar cracks and lets the ridge tiles loosen. We re-bed them or fit a dry ridge system.
Lead flashing
Where the roof meets a wall or chimney. Split or lifted lead lets water straight in.
Valleys
The channel where two roof slopes meet. Lead or GRP, kept clear so water runs off.
Verges
The edges at the gable end. Loose mortar is re-pointed, or replaced with dry verge.
Storm damage
Made safe the same day where we can, then repaired properly.
Finding the leak
Water often runs along the timbers before it drips, so the damp patch on your ceiling isn't always under the problem. We check the roof, the loft and the flashings to find the real cause, so you're not paying to fix the wrong thing.
Storm damage and insurance
Home insurance usually covers sudden storm damage but not general wear and tear. If you're claiming, tell your insurer first. We can give you a written quote and photos of the damage to send them.
